Phuket International Academy (PIA) Standard for Human Achievement

A new international sports, education and wellness centre has been established in Thailand that provides unprecedented facilities and programmes.  It comprises three synergistic  centres: the PIA Day School, the PIA Sports, Arts and Wellness Centre and the PIA Mind Centre.  They offer students, parents and those from the wider Phuket, as well as international communities, a modern, sustainable facility which focuses on education, sports, arts and wellness.  Phuket International Academy is found in a setting of natural beauty among the foothills of a national park on the eastern part of Phuket, Thailand. The view of PIA is to realize the intellectual, physical, creative and spiritual prospects of all students, members and participants of the three centres.

The Phuket International Academy Day School (PIADS) is working to become a three programme International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.  As a leading international school in Thailand, it will incorporate distinctive Asian culture and the best from Western educational methods, to develop inquiring, informed, and empathetic young people who know how to conduct their lives with honor, cultivate genuine happiness, and strive to create a more peaceful and sustainable planet.   The PIA Day School has excellent facilities, teachers, trainers, staff and administration.

Phuket International Academy Sports and Leisure Club (PIASLC) is partially constructed, and will soon start to offer a variety of world-class sports, arts, wellness and recreational facilities and programmes for the enjoyment of the school’s pupils, their families, the local Phuket community as well as for visiting professional and amateur individual athletes and teams from around the glove.  PIASLC is going to establish a benchmark as a regional hub for sports, arts and wellness in Thailand and Asia, and quite possibly the world.

Phuket International Academy Mind Centre (PIAMC) is nearing completion and will before long start to offer training in the cultivation of cognitive and emotional balance.   The Phuket International Academy Mind Centre will  offer  a combination of contemporary psychology and neuroscience alongside ancient Asian contemplative practices.  Delivered through residential retreats and weekend seminars PIAMC is open to anyone.  Working in close interaction with the PIA Day School and the Phuket International Academy Sports and Leisure Club, the programmes offered by PIAMC will contribute to participant’s healthier mental equilibrium and wellbeing.  April 10th marks the launch of the PIA Mind Centre (PIAMC) with a two-day “Genuine Happiness Retreat” led by Dr. B Alan Wallace.  The retreat incorporates two methods for cultivating meditative quiescence called shamatha.  It teaches the practice of “mindfulness of breathing”, which is an effective method for soothing the body and calming the mind. A second method taught is both a shamatha practice and vipashyana, “insight meditation” also referred to as “settling the mind in its natural state”.

Located in the northern reaches of Phuket, just 15 minutes from Phuket International Airport, PIA also includes two 38-room boutique hotels and a broad range of facilities ideal for corporate retreats, seminars, and teambuilding programmes and events.   PIA  is a convenient drive near Phuket International Airport and includes two 38-room comfortable hotels and facilities that are great for Meetings, Conventions and Events of all kinds.
